How to install the steel fire door?
Step 1:Preparation
1.Select the right materials and tools for the project.
2.Find the right door by the sign on the door or the opening number. The marking number can be written on the tag, written on the top or bottom channel, or printed on the hinge reinforcement.
3.Open the door.
4. Verify the door, frame, and hardware configuration according to the drawing and hardware schedule.
5. Before starting to install the door, make sure that the opening width of the door frame is correct and that it is vertical, square, and horizontal. If opened incorrectly, it may cause problems with door installation and hardware functionality.
6. If necessary, make sure that the door and door frame have open fire signs.
Check the hardware schedule. If the information does not match, contact your dealer.
Step 2: Hinge Application and Door Installation
1. Determine the top position of the door by comparing the hinge position on the frame to the hinge position on the door. Remember that the top hinge position will be 1/8″ less to allow for clearance between the door and frame when installing.
2. inspect the door frame screw holes and reinforcement to make sure there are no foreign objects.
3. remove any excess slurry, filler, paint or weld spatter from the reinforcement.
4 clean threaded holes with foreign matter with screws or taps.
5. check hardware schedules or submittals to verify whether you are using standard or heavy duty hinges.
6. For standard weight hinge applications, attach the hinge to the door using only the machine screws provided by the hinge manufacturer. Be careful not to overtighten the machine screws.
Step 3: Commercial Steel Door Installation
1. Stand the door up and move it close to the opening.
2 place a wooden wedge or other support under the door to hold up heavy objects.
3. align the top hinge on the door with the top hinge cut out of the frame. The top hinge is usually installed first to take the weight of the door.
4. Install hinges to frame reinforcement at top hinge locations using machine screws provided by hinge manufacturer.
5. Install middle and bottom hinges.
6. remove wood wedges or other supports from under the door.
7. Close the door and verify that there is proper clearance between the pins on the door frame and the edge of the door frame. The door should swing freely. If the door does not swing freely, refer to SDI-122 or our video page for help with installation issues such as binding or alignment.
8 Install the lockset, closer, and other ancillary hardware.
9 after installing the lockset, open and close the door to ensure the latch is properly engaged in the strike.
