HOW TO REPAIR POWDER COATED METAL FIRE DOORS
During installation or daily use, fire doors may occasionally sustain minor scratches or deeper damage. Here’s how to properly repair them based on severity:
Minor Scratches
1.Wipe and clean the area
2.Then spray paint with same metal fire door color
Deep Scratches (Showing metal surface)
1.Clean the area with Soft cloths or microfiber towels.
2.Polish (sanding) the scratch lightly and the surrounding area to be smooth
3.Apply touch-up paint use brush or spray paint with same color of the metal door, avoid the paint to drip
4.Let it be cure (usually 1-2 hours).
5.Apply Matching Powder-Coat Paint. Use a powder-coat touch-up paint (spray or brush). Apply thin layers, allowing drying time between coats. For spray, hold 8-12 inches away to avoid drips.
6.Clear Coat (If Needed)
If the original finish was glossy, apply a powder-coat clear sealant. Let it cure for 24+ hours before handling.
